As part of TCU鈥檚 150th anniversary, the university highlighted notable Horned Frog leaders who found their inspiration at TCU with a series of hand-painted murals in cities across America.
The larger-than-life artistic portraits appeared in select U.S. cities to recognize outstanding individuals who represent the power of TCU鈥檚 alumni leading on in extraordinary ways in their chosen fields.
The campaign closed with an on-campus mural encouraging visitors to 鈥渕uralize鈥� themselves and picture themselves as Horned Frog leaders and, as the installation says, 鈥淒ream Big. Be Bold. Lead On.鈥� The mural is still on display on Lubbock Street, just north of Berry Street.

TCU Mural Celebrates Health Care Leaders in Chicago
The mural unveiled June 5 in Chicago featured four alumni leading on with empathy
in health professions. Dr. McKenna Chalman 鈥�19, 鈥�23 is a graduate of the inaugural
class of TCU鈥檚 Burnett School of Medicine and a general surgery resident at Rush University
in Chicago; Emma Joy 鈥�21 is a graduate of TCU鈥檚 Harris College of Nursing & Health
Sciences and is a registered nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit; Dr. Courtney Sullivan 鈥�17 is a graduate of TCU鈥檚 College of
Science & Engineering鈥檚 Pre-Health Professions Institute and is doing her medical
residency at the University of Chicago Medicine in obstetrics and gynecology; Dr.
Brandon Zsigray 鈥�14 is also a graduate of the College of Science & Engineering鈥檚 Pre-Health
Professions Institute and is completing his residency in neurosurgery at Loyola Medicine. All
credited TCU for their health education and focus on leading with empathy.

Nashville Mural to Feature NBA Star Desmond Bane 鈥�20
The mural completed April 4 in Nashville featured Desmond Bane 鈥�20, NBA player for
the Memphis Grizzlies and a youth advocate. Bane credits TCU鈥檚 coaching staff and
his TCU College of Education professors for providing him with a 鈥渉ome away from home鈥�
and for sparking his interest in working with youth and helping generations of students
build a better future. Today he participates in basketball camps, backpack drives
and other opportunities using his platform as a professional athlete to inspire and
motivate kids.

L.A. Mural Celebrates a 鈥楲ife Story Worth Telling鈥�
The mural unveiled Feb. 6 in Los Angeles featured Katherine Beattie '08, producer/writer
for 鈥淣CIS鈥� and wheelchair athlete. The TCU Bob Schieffer College of Communication
alumna was the first woman to land a backflip using a wheelchair. Beattie credits TCU and the
mentorship of her professors with sparking her interest in becoming a writer. Aside
from writing classes, she says what prepared her most for a career in television was
learning how to find her voice, have an idea, and stand up for it.

Campaign Kicks Off in NYC with 贬补尘颈濒迟辞苍鈥�s John Devereaux 鈥�12
The first mural in the series was unveiled in New York City on Oct. 3, 2022 and spotlighted
alumnus John Devereaux 鈥�12, who was touring with Hamilton. Devereaux credits multiple experiences and people at TCU that prompted him to pursue
a career in the performing arts. He says his life would have been different without
the culture of connection at TCU and the support and encouragement from professors
and classmates.
