It鈥檚 opening weekend for Horned Frog football, and TCU is picking up where we ended last season: on the national stage.
Ahead of a nationally televised opener Saturday, Sept. 2, Fox鈥檚 Big Noon Kickoff will broadcast from the lawn of the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center once again. The show goes live at 9 a.m., prior to gametime at 11 a.m.
鈥淪aturdays at The Carter are a hallmark of the campus experience,鈥� said Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor of student affairs. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an experience that unites. You can feel the energy and pride for our student-athletes, our spirit teams and band. Starting the season with a national pregame show will provide everyone, especially our newest Horned Frogs, an opportunity to engage and get excited about this new semester.
鈥淭CU hears all the time that students love 鈥榯he small school feel with the big college athletics.鈥� This is it,鈥� she said. 鈥淭his is what they鈥檙e talking about.鈥�
The Big Noon cast will once again be joined by TCU spirit and bandmembers, and the show will distribute prizes for best signs, loudest cheers and more. Attendance to the pregame show is open to the community.
Even beyond the Horned Frogs鈥� successful season last year, which ended in a College Football Playoff National Championship appearance, the season opener is quite the attraction. TCU faces the University of Colorado, newly coached this year by NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Since the schedule was released, Colorado is now a future Big 12 opponent, officially joining the conference in 2024. The Horned Frogs are ranked 17th in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll.

TCU Public Safety asks those attending Big Noon Kickoff to observe stadium security precautions, such as carrying a clear bag, no weapons and no banners with sticks, as well as being prepared for the heat.
