Although the national heritage month is in May, TCU’s Asian American Pacific Islander Native Hawaiian Heritage Month begins with a kickoff event April 8 and spans the month with food, film, conversation and more.
“AAPINH Heritage Month at TCU invites our Horned Frog community to engage with a breadth of events and initiatives representing a diverse history, languages, cultures and media,” said Benjamin Hiramatsu Ireland, director of Asian Studies. “AddRan Asian Studies, along with our academic sponsors, student organizations and the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, showcases these opportunities to promote active, student-centered, hands-on learning about AAPINH cultural heritages.”
Jong-Keyong Kim, a Ph.D. candidate in English, is helping coordinate this year’s festivities and said he hopes Horned Frogs will delve into the “rich tapestry” of stories from AAPINH.
“I’m deeply moved by the incredible growth of AAPINH Heritage Month at TCU, witnessing its evolution in content and scale,” Kim said.
